Two rules decide whether a snipe is actually profitable: the transfer tax, and the price steps EA allows. Get either wrong and a “profitable” snipe can lose coins.
The 5% tax
When a card sells on the transfer market, EA keeps 5% of the sale price. You receive the other 95%.
| Sold for | Tax | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | 50 | 950 |
| 2,100 | 105 | 1,995 |
| 20,000 | 1,000 | 19,000 |
So the real profit on a snipe is:
profit = sell price × 0.95 − buy price
Buy at 1,650 and sell at 2,100: 1,995 − 1,650 = 345 coins, not 450.
Price steps
You can’t list a card at any price you like. EA only allows certain steps, and they get bigger as prices rise:
| Price range | Step |
|---|---|
| up to 1,000 | 50 |
| 1,000 to 10,000 | 100 |
| 10,000 to 50,000 | 250 |
| 50,000 to 100,000 | 500 |
| over 100,000 | 1,000 |
A price that isn’t on a step is rejected. That’s why “one step under the cheapest listing” means 2,000 under 2,100, but 49,750 under 50,000.
Break-even
To get your money back after tax, you need to sell for at least buy price ÷ 0.95, rounded up to the next step. Bought for 1,650? 1,650 ÷ 0.95 = 1,737, so the lowest list that doesn’t lose coins is 1,800.
FUT Snipe Club works this out for every card. With Never list below break-even turned on, it won’t list below that price, even when it relists.
